Case Study: Complete cost effective office refurbishment

Client:Yorkshire Gas and Power

Industry:Energy supplier

Building:Modern two-storey office block

Date:August 2019

Our clients expanding business required them to relocate to a larger office. The new space needed some major refurbishment works to modernise it and suitable for their business and staff needs.

Reusing office partitioning

The existing partitioning was in good condition, so we were able to reuse this – saving the client a considerable amount! The partitions were relocated and configured to create the new office layout. We fitted the partitions to form a curved corridor leading through the workspace and create an impressive board room exterior.

Striking glass manifestation

The curved full-height glass partition corridor was further enhanced with a custom manifestation with a vintage Leeds street map design. This type of window film adds more visual interest than a standard frosted effect while still keeping a degree of privacy. They’re a great way to get a big “wow” factor for a low cost.

From the floor up

We started with a strip out and removal of the old carpet tiles. We installed Burmatex Tivoli carpet tiles, using various shades to add interest and demark certain areas. These are a great cost-effective way to add some interest and break up a large expanse of carpeting. A dark plank-style vinyl (Duraflor Momenta) was installed in the kitchen areas on both floors.

Energy-saving lighting

For maximum effect we installed low level LED circular lights above the boardroom table to maintain the corporate effect.

We replaced the out-dated high-frequency light fittings with energy-efficient LED panels as well as adding motion sensors for the lights and replacing the light switches. As with most office refurbishments, we added electrical sockets and data points to suit the layout and new desk configurations along with hidden HDMI cabling for the TVs in the boardroom and meeting rooms.

Stylish kitchens

At Rodley’s we believe an appealing, well-designed office kitchen and breakout space is very beneficial for staff. The design here used white marble effect counter-tops, oak block tables and pendant lighting to add a luxury feel that their team would be happy to use. Paired with the grey gloss kitchen from Howdens Clarkenwell, this is a million miles away from some of the drab, uninviting office kitchens out there.

Security System Installation

We supplied and installed a new intruder alarm system for Yorkshire Gas & Power. This Smartcom communicator has full remote control and allows for monitoring via mobile phones. We also installed a new door access system with a desktop reader for programming. The existing fire alarm was serviced and certified on completion.

Everything Else!

Along with all of the above we installed new ceiling tiles, fire-board ceiling to the electrical room, painted & decorated throughout, added new aluminium stair nosings, installed new toilet sinks and more.
